Article by Darryl Mc
Wedding first dances are a very personal affair, and by no means are they compulsory, but they are a tradition that guests wait eagerly for, and there can always be the pressure as to what song to play. Do you go with something that’ll please the guests, or something more personal to yourselves, or perhaps you’ll find a happy medium that everybody’s contented with. Hopefully, this article will be a help for those still choosing.I present to you a compact selection of songs including a couple of contemporary pieces and a handful of classics for the Top 10 First Dance Wedding Songs of 2011.
Mariah Carey – I Want To Know What Love IsAlicia Keys – UnthinkableCorinne Bailey Rae – CloserEtta James – At LastThe Stylistics – Betcha By Golly WowChaka Khan – Sweet ThingThe Carpenters – We’ve Only Just BegunShania Twain – From This Moment OnWhitney Houston – I Will Always Love YouJason Mraz – I’m YoursMariah Carey – I Want To Know What Love Is Originally sung by Foreigner, Mariah updated the 80s love song, and gave it an R&B and gospel twist. It’s definitely as powerful as the original, and the words are refreshing and vulnerable.Alicia Keys – Unthinkable This song can take on several meanings. It’s all about taking that next step, making a commitment, whether it’s committing to a serious relationship or even going further and getting married. It’s a sincere and beautiful song.Corinne Bailey Rae – Closer Corinne’s lush voice over a sensual beat and a delicious bass-line makes this a serious contender for a first dance piece.Etta James – At Last At Last, famously sung by Etta James, was written almost 20 years before she released it, and covered by a couple dozen of other artists, like Miles Davis, Nat King Cole, Ben E King, Judy Garland, Doris Day, The Fatback Band, Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera and Beyonce. So you have a choice of styles to go with if you love this song. It starts with, ‘At last, my love has come along, my lonely days are over.’ Simply beautiful. The Stylistics – Betcha By Golly Wow This song has been covered many times over the years, most notably by Prince, Dionne Warwick and Phyllis Hyman. The words are sweet and romantic. ‘Never thought that fairy tales came true, But they come true when I’m near you’, and ‘If I could, I’d catch a falling star, To shine on you so I know where you are’ stays in the mind.Chaka Khan – Sweet Thing Singer Chaka Khan co-wrote this song about her then husband with her Rufus bandmate Tony Maiden. In fact, in this song, Chaka Khan implores this man to be her sweet thing. The Carpenters – We’ve Only Just Begun A few songs by The Carpenters could have been included in this list. I’m sure I’ll include another one for next year. According to wikipedia, it’s a popular wedding song, most likely because the words are so fitting. The song signifies the start of a journey with your loved one, hence, it opens with, ‘We’ve only just begun to live’.Shania Twain – From This Moment On Another Wikipedia fact: From This Moment On was written as a love song between Shania Twain and Robert Lange. “Can’t wait to live my life with you, can’t wait to start,” has to be one of the most memorable lyrics from this song.Whitney Houston – I Will Always Love You If you’ve never seen the movie, The Bodyguard, I’m sure you’ve the heard its penultimate song, ‘I Will Always Love You’ by Whitney Houston. It’s not the original version, but a brilliant version nonetheless, most famous for its a cappella beginning, where there’s nothing but her voice before the rest of the music starts.Jason Mraz – I’m Yours Last but not least is Jason Mraz’ I’m Yours. With a laid back rhythm, almost reggae in nature, Jason Mraz sings to a special someone. You can imagine being on a beach, or in a garden, or even the middle of wondrous nature. His lyrics, ‘I wont hesitate no more,’ encapsulates his love and desire to be complete with somebody.I hope you enjoyed the Top 10 First Dance Wedding Songs of 2011 as chosen by the Editor of Carol Black Music, Wedding Music UK.

This piece of music declares the truth that time can never take away the memory connected to his emotions and in which he would definitely be dancing along with his angel daughter wherever she goes.
Daddy’s Angel by Anthony Carter. This is an addition to the point that the bride will continuously be the daddy’s angel. The top plethora in finding the father daughter wedding songs reveal that the father’s role, basically the guardian and provider of his daughter will at this point be transferred to another man
Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle. This is an expressive music in which the dad is definitely upon the brink of crying while his daughter says that it is not necessary for him to cry. The daughter transpires by way of askingher father if her attire is beautiful enough.I Loved Her First by Heartland. This exceptional father daughter wedding song talks about the father who is longing that his girl may find a partner at some point. On the other hand, this valuable piece of music carries the hard part of letting go.

The Grumpy Guide To Wedding Songs
Article by Barry Summers
Even before the party has started, we can all make a reasonably accurate guess regarding the type of wedding music bands are likely to play. The same old tired and tested hits from the fifties, sixties, seventies, eighties, nineties, noughties and tenties and if we’re really unlucky, they might even perform both Celine Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On’ and Brian Adams’ bog awful ‘Everything I Do (I Do It For You)’. Call me a misery guts, but I did leave my own sisters wedding reception in disgust when the Birdie Song by The Tweets was played. I do have some standards!
Is it just me or is there something fundamentally wrong with the type of wedding music bands seem to think people want to listen to? I mean, come on… nobody wants to hear ‘The Power Of Love’ by Jennifer Rush after it’s 18 month stint at number one in the mid eighties. The song should have been banned there and then and any self-respecting band for hire really should know better. Another popular song that many bands for hire have a habit of playing at weddings is ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’. When performed by Andy Williams this is an excellent bit of classic easy listening, but hearing a live band murder the song is nothing more than sacrilege.
I guess the root of the problem is the internet. People are either thinking “I don’t know what to ask the band to play” so they search the internet for ‘popular wedding songs’, or the band for hire get booked for a wedding reception and think “I don’t know what type of music we should play for a wedding” and search the internet for ‘popular wedding songs’. Whatever the reason, both are going to end up with a bog-awful list of supposedly ‘popular’ wedding songs. When the extent of their imagination is ‘asking google’ then there’s little hope that things are going to change any time soon.
Here’s a scenario: You’re getting married and are considering a variety of bands to hire to play at the reception. Instead of asking google what the band should play, have a look through your own and your partners music collection and take the play-list from there. Chances are you end up with a far superior selection of wedding music bands would find far more palatable to perform than the supposed standards already mentioned. If, in the unlikely and unfortunate event your music collection conjures up the likes of Celine Dion, Jennifer Rush and Bryan Adams… it’s time to get a new music collection!

WEDDING SONGS WITH LYRICS THAT ARE OH-SO-WRONG
Article by Merryl Lentz
Youre getting married! Congratulations! Youre trying to choose songs with music and lyrics that will escalate this event from special to extraordinary. But if Here Comes the Bride, makes you think, There goes my lunch, something less traditionaland more distinctivemight be more your style. Even though you’re going for music and lyrics that are less customary, be clear on what those lyrics are actually about. There are numerous songs with beautiful, romantic melodies whose lyrics tell a very different story. The dearly beloved who are gathered together to witness holy matrimony should be gasping at the bride’s beauty or the groom’s elegance, not at a song blaring inappropriate lyrics.
Yet it’s amazing how many couples choose contemporary music whose lyrics — or their intended meaning — goes over their heads like a bride’s bouquet. Guns ‘N’ Roses’ “November Rain,” which has been played at many weddings, is about a couple on the verge of a breakup, and has melancholy lyrics like, “When I look into your eyes/I can see a love restrained/But darlin’ when I hold you/Don’t you know I feel the same?” Although there’s a ray of hope at the end of the song, don’t use this one unless its lyrics mirror something you and your future partner have personally experienced, and surmounted.
Don’t invite any Lou Reed fans to your wedding if you intend to play his song, “Perfect Day.” Yes, its lyrics are sung tenderly, and yes, they’re accompanied by beautiful piano and orchestral parts. But they’re widely regarded as describing Reed’s previous heroin addiction. Some of those lyrics include: “I thought I was someone else/Someone good/You’re going to reap just what you sow.” But then again, the song raised scads of money for a children’s charity, so maybe using it for a wedding isn’t that farfetched, after all.
And maybe it’s not so unbelievable that Billy Idol’s “White Wedding” has been played at many marital unions. Not because the couple already made whoopie before getting married, but because the lyrics are actually anti-marriage. Inspired by his contempt for the man his sister was marrying, Idol wrote this song and its lyrics about the anger felt by a man whose true love marries someone else: “There is nothin’ fair in this world/There is nothin’ safe in this world/And there’s nothin’ sure in this world/And there’s nothin’ pure in this world.”
“Every Breath You Take,” by the Police, is another popular wedding song, probably because of its dreamy-sounding music. But it’s lyrics are a nightmare — they’re about a stalker: “Every breath you take/And every move you make/Every bond you break, every step you take/I’ll be watching you.” Singer Sting wrote the obsessive lyrics after he and his first wife separated. Coincidentally, Sting created so much tension in the studio over the recording of this song, that the Police broke up after the album containing it was released. Two breakups related to one song — don’t use it for your wedding, unless you enjoy gambling.
Romantic music and Percy Sledge’s powerfully expressive delivery of the lyrics to “When a Man Loves a Woman” make it a popular wedding song. Beware, though — the lyrics caution men about being blinded by love for a woman who treats them like dirt: “When a man loves a woman, down deep in his soul/She can bring him such misery/If she plays him for a fool, he’s the last one to know/Lovin’ eyes don’t ever see.” In an emotional tirade set to music, Sledge improvised this song’s lyrics onstage after being dumped by his girlfriend.
So, before you take that magical walk down the aisle, make sure the spell isn’t broken by songs with lyrics that make you want to sprint in embarrassment in the opposite direction!

Wedding Songs and Ideas For Your Second Processional
Article by James Loram
Hopefully, you’ve been following along with my other articles right here at GoArticles or on my blogsite Wedding Songs Planner. If not, please search for my previous articles right here on GoArticles.
By now you’ve chosen your parent’s processional, or your First Processional. At this time, you have a couple of decisions to make. Do you want the pastor, groom, and groomsmen to walk to the altar/ceremony gazebo, etc. together (usually not down the isle, but from the audiences right side) or would you prefer the pastor, groom, and best man come in first (also entering from the right side) then have the bridesmaids escorted down the center isle by the other groomsmen? Your decision here will impact the next song you choose, because you will either have both men and women walking down the isle, or just females. If you end up going with just the bridesmaids, you can get away with getting a little “girly” with your wedding song choice if you want! Now, let’s move on.
Your Second Processional, or bridesmaid’s processional is very similar to your first processional. It’s usually a classical or contemporary piece, but with a twist. Many of the suggestions made earlier also apply to this song, but going with a contemporary or new song would work even better here. Songs like Amazed by Lonestar, Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Isreal Kamakawiwo’ole, and Fairy Tales by Enya have been used by some of my clients. But, since you’re dealing with younger members of the wedding, the bridesmaids and groomsmen, they are usually less offended. This lets you have a little fun, if you so choose! Notice the above ideas are still slow and romantic, but, this is your wedding so do whatever you want! For instance, if you want to really go crazy, you’re bridesmaids can walk down to Chapel of Love, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, or even Beyonce’s Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)!
Finally all of this may not really matter, because if you only have a few parents walking down to the First Processional, you might not need a different wedding song for your Second Processional. You may only need 20 seconds of music for your parents to make it down the isle, and it would seem quite odd to cut off that first song! this may make your life easier, because now you’d be able to combine your First and Second Processionals into one. Choosing one song may be your only option here.
Again, to find different versions of the same song performed by different artists, do a search for songs you like and leave the artist blank. And again, don’t forget movie soundtracks!

Top 10 Mother Son Wedding Songs
Article by Katie Miller
Like the father daughter wedding dance, the mother son marriage dance has become a practice of recent. Many mothers view this as a reminder to their boy of how much they love them, as well as their continuing support after the wedding for them. Many sons view this as a reminder to their mother of the amount that they are thankful for their love and support. Because of the importance that the mother son wedding song has, one can see how crucial it is to choose the perfect song that is fitting for the mummy and boy’s relationship. The first step in selecting your mother son wedding song is to take a seat and reminisce the past to determine if their are any big events that might be touched upon in a song. Simply put, the more personal the tune is to the relationship the more it’ll mean for years to come. After you have noted down a few notes on your memories, try to think of a track that sheds light to these events, as well as have importance to you both. This frequently will be a song the mother and child have evolved as’their song’ throughout the child’s childhood. When you have your mother child wedding song picked out now it’s time to dance! It’s best to practice atleast two weeks before the wedding to make sure you are both in sync and rhythm. This will help you both on wedding day to not be scared about your dancing. While it might seem simple, choosing a mother child wedding dance song can infrequently be a tough call. We have compiled for you our top ten list of perfect mother son wedding songs. Your First Processional Wedding Songs And Ideas
Article by James Loram
Choosing the right wedding songs for your processional should be an easy task. The problem is most people don’t have any idea what songs fit in this particular ceremony event. I will include a list of traditional (and non-traditional) First Processionals at the end of this article. But first, I’ll go over what the processional is and how to plan it then go over music ideas for you.
Here’s a brief description of the processional. This is where the parents and any other special people (aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, etc.) are honored by having them walk down the isle. They can be walked down by an usher or groomsman or they can walk down as a couple. The parents of the groom, for instance, could walk down as a couple if still married. Don’t go too crazy and include everybody in the processional (like your fifth cousin, once removed). It should be saved for the most important people in your life. I’ll go over the entrance order in reverse. The last person down the isle would be the bride’s mom. Before her, would be the groom’s mom. And before her would be the grandparents of the bride, then the grandparents of the groom. Any other special people would come before the grandparents. Notice how the most important, the more special the person is, the later they walk down the isle? I know, it seems backward, but it’s like a Hollywood film. The most important events happen at the end! Start with your close special people, then the grandparents of the groom, then the bride’s grandparents, then the parents of the groom, then, finally, the bride’s mom finishes the first processional. She won’t be escorted by the father of the bride, as he will be walking the bride down the isle. The bride’s mom can be escorted by her son (I know, you can let out a cute “awwww!) or any other person she’d prefer. This is the First Processional, or the Processional for the Parents. What follows is the Second Processional, or the Processional for the Bridesmaids. Finally, the Third Processional, or the Bride’s Processional follows next. We’ll go over those processionals next time.
The wedding song you choose for your parent’s processional can range from classical to contemporary and should reflect your style and/or your parent’s tastes. Some traditional songs are Air On A G String by Bach, Greensleeves, and of course, the very popular, much overused Canon in D Major by Pachalbel. Now, if you’ve always pictured your family walking down to a played out wedding song, that’s fine. There are so many different versions of these songs available, you can always find one that has a new, unique feel to it. I currently have 16 different versions of Canon in D Major in my music library! Another route is using contemporary songs, such as Con Ti Partiro by Andrea Bocelli (or by any other artist, for that matter) or even a Josh Groban song. If you’d prefer vocal-free, many times you can find instrumental versions of these songs that will work well. I’ve even had some clients have tons of fun with this, the very start of their wedding day, by playing a fun, over-the-top song like Chapel of Love by the Dixie Cups. Whatever wedding song you choose for your First Processional, make sure the bride and the bride’s mom love it. The groom and everyone else can simply “like” it-I think you’ll be able to get away with that! Now, as promised here’s a list of wedding songs and music ideas for your First Processional! (PS: I’m sure you’ll find even more music ideas by clicking through some of the ads on this page).

Also, search for these song titles by title only (leave the artist blank) and you’ll find a wide selection of different versions. Oh, and don’t forget another great source–movie soundtracks! Good luck!
